🎬 About the Artist:
Anne Fernandez, an acclaimed Dominican-American filmmaker and multimedia artist based in Uptown, has been recognized with the 2025 Open Call for Art on Immigrant History, Culture, and Experience for her outstanding work, Sion Papi.

✨ What is Sion Papi?
Sion Papi is an animated documentary that chronicles Anne's personal journey as she returns to her father's homeland after his passing. Following the poignant experience of losing her father, she sets off on a two-month quest to bring his ashes back to a place she hasn’t visited in sixteen years. Through this journey, she discovers her father's true identity during his years in the Dominican Republic.

This animated documentary beautifully presents Anne's reflections in stop motion—creating a heartfelt exploration of intergenerational storytelling, reconnection, and healing. 💔💫
