Join us for the WHS Quarterly Meeting, followed by a captivating 40-minute program featuring a selection of New Songs and Hymns published in Connecticut during the American Revolution. From the Stamp Act through the British surrender at Yorktown, Connecticut’s bold colonists utilized these powerful works to inspire rebellion, commemorate victories, and express gratitude for their resilience.
🌟 Featured Performer: Richard Franklin Donohue, Tenor & Harpsichordist, will guide us through this passionate repertoire that, in the words of John Adams, "cultivated the sensations of Freedom."
Richard Franklin Donohue is not only a talented singer but also a private music instructor and historian. Specializing in historic music from Middle English Carols to 19th-century romantic pieces, he has been teaching Piano, Voice, and Music Theory since 1992. As the Town Historian of Cromwell, Connecticut, and having served as the President and Program Director of the Cromwell Historical Society for nearly twenty years, Richard shares his expertise through Rosetown Review, a monthly history article in the Cromwell Life newspaper, alongside historical lectures across New England.
