📚 Welcome to The Writers’ Parliament!
Join us at this unique platform where writers from both the North and South of Belgium come together to engage in thought-provoking public dialogue. The theme for this sixth edition is beauty.
Two French-speaking and two Flemish authors will respond to the provocative statement by American author Philip Roth: “Literature isn't a moral beauty contest.” This discussion will explore the intricate relationship between ethics and aesthetics.
✨ What motivates these writers to create beautiful books, stories, or prose? How do they balance the concept of beauty with their other obligations and the world's suffering?
Is beauty a form of resistance, a moral guide, or merely a source of comfort?
Each writer will articulate their thoughts in their native language, with simultaneous translation available for everyone’s understanding.
🗣 Moderators: Nicky Aerts (Klara) & Pascal Claude (La Première)
📍 Location: Terarkenstraat 2, 1000 Brussel, België
