Jakuta has made a significant impact on French literature with her profound works such as Comme un ciel en nous (2021), which garnered the prestigious Prix Médicis. This captivating book narrates a night at the Louvre, weaving in her father's lessons on finding beauty in the world.
Her other celebrated novels, including Corps volatils and L’Avancée de la nuit, have received high praise and various accolades like the Goncourt du premier roman and the Prix Femina.
Jakuta's writing often delves into themes of intimacy and history, exploring how memory, desire, and loss take form in text.
Last autumn, she unveiled Au grand jamais, a poignant homage to her late mother who published poetry in Yugoslavia before starting anew in France. As a translator, she has worked with celebrated authors like David Foster Wallace, Toni Morrison, and Ben Lerner.
