Learn the art of traditional broom making from the Meckley Family, renowned seventh-generation broom makers with over a century of craftsmanship passed down through the generations. They'll share their time-honored techniques and whimsical designs, ensuring a fun and educational experience!

These workshops are designed for participants ages 15 and older. This is a fantastic opportunity for Monroe County residents to engage with historic handcrafts, acquire new skills, and create their very own handmade brooms!

Workshop Details:
✨ Broom Making Basics | 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Learn essential broom-making techniques while crafting three small brooms: a cake tester, a pot scrubber, and a whisk broom. Ideal for beginners!

✨ Cobweb Broom Workshop | 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM
Master the art of creating a classic cobweb broom, perfect for those tricky spots like corners and ceilings. Learn specific shaping and stitching techniques for this unique style!

📝 Application Information:

• Applications are due by February 20
• Notification of acceptance will be sent by March 1
• Participants can rank their workshop choices; seating will depend on availability and grant objectives.
