DeCo: The Decentralized Coding Workshop 🌐💻

Overview

Join us for the inaugural Decentralized Coding Workshop (DeCo), a groundbreaking event aimed at advancing research in network coding, erasure coding, and distributed systems. Co-organized by Optimum, MIT, and Georgia Tech, this intimate workshop invites around a dozen leading experts to share cutting-edge insights and foster collaboration between academia and the Web3 community.

📅 When: March 23-24, 2026
📍 Where: Area 2, MIT, Cambridge, MA

Over two days on MIT's campus, participants will engage in deep technical discussions and presentations that explore the future of decentralized infrastructure. Topics will range from theoretical advancements in random linear network coding to practical blockchain applications. DeCo will serve as a platform for ideas that will shape the next generation of internet protocols.

This workshop is tailored for researchers, protocol developers, and technical leaders at the intersection of coding theory and decentralized systems. If you're keen to learn but lack a background in decentralized coding, join Muriel Médard, CEO and Co-Founder of Optimum, for an in-person crash course on March 22nd. Please indicate your interest during registration!

Agenda 🗓️

The event will commence with welcoming remarks from Muriel Médard and Sriram Vishwanath from Georgia Tech. Following that, participants will enjoy two days filled with presentations from twelve of the world's foremost researchers and innovators in decentralized coding.

Sponsors 🙌

Optimum is paving the way for next-generation blockchain infrastructure utilizing Random Linear Network Coding (RLNC) for enhanced data propagation. Meanwhile, MIT and Georgia Tech are leading centers for pioneering research in network coding and distributed systems.
