About Chris Schell
Chris Schell is an urban ecologist, esteemed professor, Afrofuturist, devoted father, and published author. His research at the University of California, Berkeley, focuses on how urban carnivores—such as coyotes, foxes, and raccoons—adapt to city life. His innovative work seeks to unravel how environmental injustices have shaped our urban ecosystems and how we can leverage those insights to create just, biodiverse, and resilient cities. A proud Cal Academy Fellow and board member, Chris also earned his place among the 2021 Grist 50.
