Overview:
Celebrate International Women’s Day with a friendly, empowering guided walk to the breathtaking Monsal Head in the stunning Peak District! This women-only and dog-friendly event promises a relaxed, sociable atmosphere as we explore one of Derbyshire’s most picturesque routes — featuring Ashford-in-the-Water, the Monsal Trail, and the stunning viewpoint overlooking Monsal Dale. We'll wrap up our excursion back in Ashford village for coffee and cake — the perfect reward after an invigorating morning on the trail!
What to Expect:
- A scenic circular route featuring a mix of trails, woodlands, and open countryside
- Beautiful views from Monsal Head, including a chance to see the weir in Monsal Dale
- A relaxed and welcoming group atmosphere
- Dogs are welcome (on leads through farmland and livestock areas)
Route Notes:
- The walk begins with easy field paths and includes sections along the Monsal Trail, which features a short tunnel (approx. 0.5 km)
- We’ll ascend through woodland — steep in parts with exposed roots — leading to the viewpoint at Monsal Head
- Anticipate uneven and muddy terrain, especially in Monsal Dale
- The descent follows a disused lane with loose rocks back into Ashford-in-the-Water, known for its charming ducks and riverside beauty
