Fun Facts About Manatees:

• 🐄 Manatees, often called “sea cows,” can graze on seagrass for up to 8 hours a day.
• ⚖️ They can weigh up to 1,200 pounds yet remain gentle and slow-moving.
• 💨 These marine mammals must surface for air every 3–5 minutes but can hold their breath for up to 20 minutes.
• 🐘 Surprisingly, they are closely related to elephants!

Special Activity:

Natural Areas Tour at 12:30 p.m.: Join our naturalist staff for a guided hike through Deering Estate’s natural areas. Discover native plants and wildlife while visiting the historic Cutler Burial Mound. 🌳
