Magnificent Desolation

Magnificent Desolation unfolds from 14 March – 11 April 2026 at skēnē, featuring the innovative work of artist Susanna Marcus Jablonski in collaboration with playwright Eva Maria Benavente Dahlin. 🌌

This exhibition presents a captivating performance within a meticulously staged environment, where language, image, and topography intertwine. Delving into Susanna's sculptural practice, it redefines ‘sculpture’ to encompass not only distinct objects but also the spaces that bring objects and bodies together. 🎭✨

The work is inspired by a poignant script co-written with Eva Maria, centering on a remarkable drawing from the 1940s by a child imprisoned, illustrating the Earth from the Moon's perspective. 🌍🌙 This narrative traces the drawing’s enduring influence, exploring themes of displacement, technological ambition, and cultural memory across different times and places. The drawing serves as a powerful sculptural element, embodying histories that transcend physical presence.
