La MaMa Moves! 2026 promises to unveil a diverse array of dance artists as they experiment, collaborate and showcase their newest works. Curated by Nicky Paraiso, this year’s festival will feature twelve productions across our venues, alongside up to four in-person community workshops and public discussions.

“We gather through La MaMa Moves! Dance Festival, continuing to resist and persevere during a fraught, turbulent time of political & economic crisis,” said Nicky Paraiso, Curator of the festival. “In this current season of La MaMa NOW, we unite a diverse group of fierce creators, each following their unique path while finding ways to coexist within meaningful community circles. As we celebrate the transformative power of dance and performance, we do it in solidarity, holding onto hope for peace in the world.”

Building on its national impact, this year's La MaMa Moves! will feature hybrid programming extending beyond New York City, including livestreams of various productions and interactive discussions for online audiences. This initiative is part of La MaMa’s collaboration with the Bloomberg Philanthropies Digital Accelerator program, working to connect and empower generations of dance artists.

In 2026, La MaMa Moves! will continue its Curatorial Residency for the second year. Over six months, Curatorial Residents Martita Abril and Blaze Ferrer will collaborate with Nicky Paraiso to present a shared program at the festival. They will have access to the La MaMa Archive, documenting over 60 years of dance history, and attend productions across NYC, focusing on curatorial mentorship and the professional development of emerging dance artists.
