JFB 2026 FACE: KUF + Samo Benko Orchestra

🎶 FACE is an innovative new program series presented by JazzFest Brno, focusing on contemporary, both domestic and internationally relevant music projects that transcend genre boundaries and broaden the festival's expressive scope. Curated by Mikuláš Hamerla, FACE aims to bring artists to Brno who, while not yet 'untouchable,' are significantly shaping today's international scene.

This ensemble defines itself around vocal elements, yet intriguingly lacks a traditional singer. Instead, they utilize original recordings layered, bent, and compressed in real-time by keyboard virtuoso Tom Schneider, akin to a playful construction set. The ethereal soundscape is complemented by bassist Valentin Link and drummer Hendrik Havekost. The rhythm section draws inspiration from the legacy of dirty funk and R&B, culminating in a sophisticated dark fusion that reflects the vibrant dance culture of Berlin. Listen here!

🎺 Samo Benko Orchestra
Reflecting Berlin's influence once again, Slovak producer Samo Benko blends various genres into a distinctive multi-genre language, featuring elements of jungle, jazz, and everything in between. His intricate beats collaborate with rhythms from British raves, footwork, and vaporwave, crafting music that is as intellectually stimulating as it is entertaining. Debuting in 2023 with his EP Breakbeat Barocco, he continued with the album 12 Degree Coast (2025). The concert showcases the playful and dynamic Samo Benko Orchestra, a lively ensemble that melds musical precision with humor, absurdity, and effortless crowd interaction. Enjoy the experience!
