Crying by the Sea البكاء على حافة البحر 🌊

Two audiences will enter their respective theaters on different continents simultaneously. The only feature in each theater is a stunning digital projection on the back wall, where they will see one another.

This poignant performance explores the vast sea of sorrow linked to socio-economic migration, delving into themes of distance, loss, boundaries, and longing through poetic texts. As part of the experience, you'll receive a script to read aloud from—a text about crossing both physical and metaphysical borders—alongside those in the theater in the mountain city of El Kef, Tunisia. You're invited to read in Danish, English, and Arabic, and afterward, you have the chance to rewrite the text, creating a new version for future audiences.

The performance has been created through workshops in Denmark and Tunisia, aiming to utilize the theater space for collective grief processing while fostering new connections and interactions. The artistic team has developed the live-stream of the performance from the ground up, enhancing the potential for self-organized digital artistic encounters.

This creative endeavor takes place simultaneously at Teaterøen (Magneten), Copenhagen, Denmark, and Theatre du Poche, El Kef, Tunisia. The show will continue until the last performer leaves the stage and then online at theatrebuilding.com. 🎭
