🔍 Abstract: This research delves into how knowledge about the New World fauna in Portuguese America was documented, organized, and shared during the 16th century. Through philological analysis of texts by chroniclers and missionaries such as Thevet, Gandavo, and Cardim, Gessica will explore the colonial production of zoological knowledge and the impact of indigenous cosmologies on early modern natural history.
