🌟 Experience the Enchanting Sounds of Palaver Strings

GatherNYC is thrilled to showcase the incredibly talented Palaver Strings, a string chamber orchestra based in Portland, ME! 🎻✨ Their captivating program, "The Apple of Their Eyes", delves into the rich African-American experience in classical music, focusing on the powerful works of Black composers.

The concert opens with the beautifully lyrical Mother and Child by William Grant Still, followed by Prelude for Piano by Perry, thoughtfully arranged for strings. 🌼 Centerpiece of the performance is Romance and Reverie Phantasy for Violin and String Orchestra by Edmund Thornton Jenkins, restored and arranged by Tuffus Zimbabwe, featuring Palaver violinist Maithena Girault. This program is a poignant celebration of the depth and richness of Black classical music. 🎶❤️

Since its inception in 2018 by cellist Laura Metcalf and guitarist Rupert Boyd, GatherNYC has redefined the concert experience. The upcoming 2025-2026 season promises 31 concerts from October 2025 through May 2026, every Sunday at 11:00 AM in The Theater at MAD. 🎉

Attendees can indulge in exquisite live classical music performed by New York's gifted artists, complemented by artisanal coffee and pastries, a snippet of spoken word, and a moment of silence—creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a spiritual gathering where the focus is solely on music. ☕🥐✨
