🎥 About the Art: Anne Fernandez, a talented Dominican-American filmmaker and multimedia artist based in Uptown, is celebrated for her award-winning submission, Sion Papi, part of our 2025 Open Call for Art focusing on immigrant history, culture, and experience.

📖 Film Synopsis: Sion Papi is an animated documentary that chronicles Anne's poignant journey as she returns her father's ashes to his homeland, a place she hadn’t visited in 16 years, after his passing. Through this touching odyssey, Anne uncovers the truth about her father's life during his years in the Dominican Republic.

✨ The film serves as a heartfelt personal essay captured in stunning stop-motion, exploring themes of intergenerational storytelling, reconnection, and healing.

🎬 Exhibition Highlights: The experience at Dyckman Farmhouse includes a screening of Sion Papi and an insight into Anne Fernandez’s creative process throughout the film's production.
