Akathist to the Mother of God

The term "Akathist" typically refers to the historical hymn dedicated to the Theotokos, composed in the 6th century. This beautiful hymn is usually performed during the "Salutations to the Theotokos" service on the first four Fridays of Great Lent. Each of its four sections corresponds to themes of the Annunciation, Nativity, Christ, and the Theotokos herself.
